Glucose is a simple sugar whose molecular formula is C6H12O6. It’s the highest amount of monosaccharide sugar. This is called blood sugar. It is also known as dextrose.

Glucose is made from the three components of protein, fat, and carbohydrates in the body. However, the highest amount of glucose is available from carbohydrates. Glucose is the key to keeping the body functioning in various processes.

Without the help of insulin, cells cannot use glucose. Glucose is an important drug in a basic health system. Glucose is on the list of essential drugs by the World Health Organization as a solution for internal sugar.

What are the sources of glucose?

Sources of glucose are carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
Our body converts food into energy. We get energy and calories from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. The main source of our energy is carbohydrates.

1. Carbohydrates: Bread, rice, light, shellfish, pasta, sugar, fruit, milk, yogurt, etc. The carbohydrate foods we eat vary 100 percent. It affects blood sugar levels quickly, i.e. within 1 to 2 hours of eating.

2. Protein: Meat, fish, peanuts, cheese, etc. Some proteins in our body are converted into glucose. Most of this glucose is stored in our liver and is not released into the bloodstream. After eating protein has very little effect on blood sugar.

3. Fat: include butter, olive oil, avocado, salad dressings, etc. Less than 10 percent of the fat in our diet is glucose. Glucose from fat is absorbed slowly and there is no immediate rise in blood sugar.
We don’t get too much glucose from fat. But it does affect fatty foods in a way that helps our bodies digest faster. Fat slows down the digestion of carbohydrates. It lowers blood sugar levels. It can occasionally create high blood sugar levels several hours after eating. This delayed response came as a surprise to many.

For example, after eating a high-fat diet, a person may have low blood sugar which is close to normal before going to sleep. But the next morning, in the fasting state, the blood sugar level was maybe 200 or more. Because it took a long time throughout the night to digest the sugars after the meal.

 

How does the body process glucose?

Most glucose comes from carbohydrate-rich foods. Such as- rice, bread, potato, etc. Once your food enters the stomach, the acids and enzymes there break down the food through various processes and release glucose. When we eat food, the body signals to the pancreas through the brain that it needs to secrete insulin to counteract the rise in blood sugar. During the process of food breakdown, the pancreas secretes the hormone (insulin). Insulin helps glucose reach the cells. Excess glucose is stored in the liver.

 

Why does blood glucose increase?

We have a gland called the pancreas in our body. It secretes the hormone (insulin). The sugars, meats, and fats in the food we eat generate energy in the chemical process to survive in the metabolic process.

The chemical process by which sugars are used in the body requires insulin. Insulin makes it easier for blood glucose diabetes to enter cells. Once inside the cell, glucose is converted into glycogen, which is broken down into calories. These calories are the source of energy for the body. This work is not done without insulin or not being able to work properly. This disrupts the metabolism of glucose and other nutrients.

2. Bad dizziness
